  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (plus more for drizzling)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.
  2. Place the flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak and massage to coat evenly. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (overnight is ideal).
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add sesame oil.
  4. Sear the marinated steak strips for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and caramelized.
  5. Drizzle with additional sesame oil and toss in green onions just before removing from heat.
  6. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
