Swedish Meatballs are a delightful comfort food that combines tender meatballs with a rich, creamy sauce. Each bite offers a burst of flavor, making them perfect for family dinners or festive gatherings. This recipe brings together ground beef and pork, seasoned to perfection and enveloped in a luscious gravy. Easy to prepare yet impressive enough for any occasion, these Swedish Meatballs will surely become a beloved dish at your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Wet your hands and roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear meatballs in batches until browned on all sides (about 6-8 minutes). Transfer to a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour for about 1 minute until golden brown.
  5. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and let it thicken before stirring in sour cream.
  6. Return meatballs to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes on low heat.
