Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Milk (for icing consistency)

Instructions

  1. 1. Activate the yeast by sprinkling it over warm milk and letting it sit until bubbly (about 5 minutes).
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour and granulated sugar; add activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. 4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. 5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, and roll tightly into logs.
  6. 6. Slice into equal pieces, place in a greased baking dish, and let rise again for about 30 minutes while preheating your oven to 350°F.
  7. 7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing.
