  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions and pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine fresh cranberries, sugar, and water. Cook until cranberries burst and sauce thickens slightly (about 10 minutes).
  5. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over its surface using the back of a wooden spoon or skewer.
  6. Pour the warm cranberry mixture evenly over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes completely. Let sit for at least an hour.
  7. Spread whipped topping over the cooled cake and dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
