Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cinnamon chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk or cream
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cinnamon chips.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the milk and egg. Gradually add this to the dry ingredients while folding gently until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Shape into an 8-inch circle and cut into wedges.
  6. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
